Well Friday was one of those days where you win some and you lose some. At 9:00 in the morning our sod was delivered. Yeah!!! I have been looking forward to getting sod in for weeks. Now that the snow is gone our backyard is either a giant mud hole or our own private dust bowl. Neither of these situations are convenient when it comes to having two dogs that need out at least 3-4 times and day. It's come down to either my kitchen floor is muddy from the dogs, or everything we own is dusty. But I digress... Friday morning I ran and got some McDonalds for breakfast (I know, not the healthiest of decisions) and then Nolan got to work. I say Nolan because he was dead set against me helping since I am pregnant. After about 10 minutes of sitting at the table watching him out the window I said the heck with this and went out to help. Since I've never laid sod before I figured I'd let Nolan do the technical stuff and I'd just haul the rolls to where they needed to go. I did not, however, realize how heavy the rolls are and that carrying them in a manner comfortable to my arms left them pressing very uncomfortably against my stomach which forced me to carry the rolls a little lower meaning more work for my arms but no pressure on my stomach. I'm proud to announce that I made it through a whole 3/4 of a pallet (about 1/3 of the yard) before calling it quits. Our neighbors had a bunch of help so they had already finished at this point and very kindly offered to help Nolan out while I went next door to make sugar cookies. With the help of all the neighbors our yard was finished in less then an hour. Hooray!!! Here's a few shots of Nolan prepping the lawn earlier in the week and the completed project.
So pretty!!! The only down side to this whole project is that Nolan did something to his back while he was laying sod. He wouldn't go to the doctor on Friday but I got him to the Instacare on Saturday. Not very happy about that because all they did was give him drugs without really helping us figure out what was going on. We're probably going to the regular doctor tomorrow.
On another note, it's the last week of the semester and that means Finals Week. As I write this blog post I am currently procrastinating 4 essays and studying for 2 finals. I'll get to it eventually and then Graduation is on Saturday!!!!! I'm so excited that it's almost over!
