This is MY blog so I'm going to take a moment to show off the wedding cake I made for my friend Leslie. But before I do that I want everyone to know that my mother-in-law is an amazing woman! She very kindly let me take over her kitchen since my poor little apartment just doesn't have the needed counter space. The bottom three layers of the cake are dummie cakes. The top layer and the layer off to the side are Red Velvet. I made the red velvet cakes the night before I started covering the rest of the cake. I spent just over seven hours at Lonna's house working to cover the cake with fondant. The red on the cake is ribbon that Leslie picked out ahead of time and we decided that different widths would look really good. I loaded the whole thing into the back of our little Insight and headed down to Maddox but I was so stressed about getting the cake there safely that I completely forgot to grab the wedding present I bought! Oh well. I spent another hour at Maddox assembling the cake and adding flowers. In the end it turned out beautifully and Leslie absolutely loved it.
